BreastMilk Donation
A Milk Bank is like a Blood Bank. It plays a crucial role for infants in NICUs and for women and families that need human mothers' milk for their babies.
Sadly, milk donation is at an ALL TIME LOW and milk banks are in need of Donors! Infants are not getting milk, and only education and awareness can turn this trend around.
Why Is there a need for Donatations?
Sometimes mom's are unable to fulfill their desire to breastfeed even after a great deal of effort. Many vulnerable infants face medical risks and even life-threatening digestive conditions that can be addressed only with human milk.
Carefully screened and processed donor breast milk is endorsed by the Food and Drug Administration and the American Academy of Pediatrics as the safest, most nutritious choice.
Adherence to our screening procedures does NOT ensure that human milk from screened donors who share or sell their milk outside of the Mothers' Milk Bank is safe. This HMBANA bank processes milk beyond the initial screening procedure.
As the only nonprofit milk bank in California, we won’t sell your donated milk to pharmaceutical companies. We make sure that your milk feeds babies who are in need. That’s why we’re here.
Mission: Our mission is to enhance the availability and use of breast milk for all babies.
Vision: Our vision is for every infant in the world to receive the best possible start in life by breastfeeding or receiving donated human milk.
Mothers’ Milk Bank Needs Breastfeeding Mothers’ Help!

Many of our recipient families are so very thankful when we are able to provide the donated breast milk that is needed for their infants. These infants cannot ingest formulas without undue stress, pain, gastric upset and allergic reactions. They are thankful for the pasteurizing and testing of the volunteer mother’s breast milk to keep it safe and clean for their babies and as nutritious as possible. Many of these recipient mothers are desperately trying to breastfeed their babies with limited success due to physical ailments, surgery or chronic illnesses. The support these mothers get helps nourish their infants as well as supports the mom to continue her efforts in getting her breast milk supply to successfully increase for her babies.
Please see Mother's Milk Bank's Facebook page, www.facebook/mothersmilkbanksj.com for the stories of the families that we have served along with our other social media platforms (badges with links found above in header). Mothers’ Milk Bank continues to respond to a rising need and demand for donor human milk for infants to survive.
